Partnership for Learning is a nationally award-winning non-profit that helps schools and communities work together to boost learning from birth through the transition to college. The Partnership publishes reports, conducts trainings, and coordinates programs as a non-position-taking collaborative resource. Alongside Time for Kids, the Partnership is a winner of a national Distinguished Achievement Award in Educational Publishing. Alongside the American Federation of Teachers, the Partnership was selected as a referral partner for a national Ad Council education campaign.
What we do
We use our core competencies in communications and collaboration to equip people to work as informed and engaged partners in learning. We specialize in putting complex issues in plain-language aimed at helping people take action. To ensure that our programs have the highest impact and the widest accessibility to diverse communities, the Partnership regularly tests and improves its services using focus groups, peer reviews, surveys and other evaluation measures. Services include:
- Speakers.
The Partnership has provided professional development, hands-on workshops and keynote presentations for thousands of educators, parents and community leaders on topics ranging from reading to technology to early childhood education.
- Collaboration Assistance.
Working with churches, libraries, Head Start centers and others, the Partnership promotes collaboration between schools and communities, with an emphasis on engaging families as valued customers and partners in learning. Foundations and non-profit agencies have also called on the Partnership to facilitate collaborative initiatives such as our College Goal program.
- Literacy.
In collaboration with state and federal departments of education, the Partnership has provided training and hundreds of activities to equip teachers to work with parents on their children’s reading.
- Media.
The Partnership provides support for reporters for coverage of education news communities can use. In addition to serving as a referral partner for a national Ad Council campaign, the Partnership has run local public service announcements on NBC and Fox-TV affiliates and in Meijer shopping ads. More than a thousand reporters, policy makers and education leaders subscribe to the Partnership’s Learning News service.
Our partners
Our partners include the families we work with and the schools and agencies we bring into collaboration to share information and services. People who use our products help to pay for some of our costs. Additional funding comes from people who care about our mission and like the work we do. Such funders have included state and federal departments of education contracts, foundations such as Kellogg and Lumina and corporations such as DaimlerChrysler and SBC.
